I guess an advantage of the current lockdown is that I finally get to sort this blog out. I've always been terrible at blogging to any kind of a schedule, citing lack of time, but I really can't use that as an excuse at the moment can I?

Chris and Rachel got married at Crathorne Hall near Yarm on a beautiful, crisp Autumn day in September 2019. The leaves were just turning, the sun was low in the sky, and the weather was glorious. All in all, a pretty perfect day for a wedding in my book.

Crathorne Hall Wedding Photography

Crathorne Hall is a gorgeous hotel, set on a 15 acre private estate, and was built during the reign of Edward VII. Part of the Handpicked Hotels group, it is part of an impressive portfolio of hotels scattered around the country.

The day began with Rachel and her mum and bridesmaids getting ready in the gorgeous first floor dressing room overlooking the grounds. I fell in love with the light in this room as soon as I saw it. Huge windows along one side of the room showered the preparations in a gorgeous natural light which lent itself to some wonderful candid shots of the preparations.

As you can see, the staircase in Crathorne Hall is something to get excited about. I love the wide shot of Rachel and her dad on the stairs, and the ceremony room is absolutely beautiful. The wedding party were entertained by a string quarter as they waited, and the bridal party were played down the aisle in style. After the ceremony, there was time for a little confetti, which I always love, and then into the absolutely fabulous grounds for some portraits of the bride and groom. I could have spent all day shooting in Crathorne Hall's grounds, which are immaculately kept and wonderfully designed. They're ideal for wedding photography, with a wonderful mix of locations and backdrops.

After a fantastic set of speeches, and a delicious dinner (the food at Crathorne is to die for, by the way), it was on to the evening festivities. Cake, dancing, merriment, and a wonderfully chaotic sparkler run which was great fun to shoot.
